The Locked Study: a ten-minute escape game
Three puzzles, three hints, one timer. Press Start, and the door clicks shut behind you.
The game loads here. It needs JavaScript from this site; there are no third-party scripts.
Playing on a call? Share this tab and let one person type. Playing with kids? Let them run the keypad.
Why we made a demo instead of a trailer
Trailers show mood. They do not show what a puzzle feels like in your hands at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday with a cat on the keyboard. So we built a complete miniature game instead: the same keypad, the same cipher style, the same "watch, then repeat" shelf that appears in the full lighthouse game, tuned so it takes about as long as a cup of tea.
Play it alone to see if our puzzles suit you. Play it with your group to test how you argue. Groups that finish the demo under eight minutes with no hints tend to finish The Lighthouse Keeper in about 35, which is a useful thing to know before you book a Friday for it.
Fair play notes
- Wrong answers are free. The timer keeps running, that is all.
- Hints are counted, not punished. Three for the whole game, and the finish screen tells the truth.
- "Play again" shuffles the shelf order, so the third puzzle is fresh every time.
- Nothing is stored. Close the tab and it is gone; there is no leaderboard and no account.
Good luck with the drawer. The answer is a year that every Canadian classroom has a poster about.
Demo questions
Is the demo the same as the full games?
It is a short version built with the same three mechanics you will meet in the full games: a keypad lock, a letter cipher and a repeat-the-pattern shelf. The full games add drag puzzles, audio and a lot more story.
Does it work with a keyboard only?
Yes. Every key, tile and button is a real button. Tab moves between them, Enter submits a code or word, and the status line is read out by screen readers as it changes.
Nothing happens when I press Start.
